Pyle, Ross Mathers 09/09/1933 ~ 04/23/2013 SAN DIEGO -- Ross was born in Bloomfield, Nebraska to Maxine and Ross Pyle, moving to San Diego at a young age. He attended San Diego High School and remained an active alum. Ross was a proud graduate of Stanford University (A.B. 1955, J.D. 1958). Ross practiced as a lawyer in San Diego since 1958. He was a Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of California from 1975 to 1985. After serving on the bench, he practiced with Jennings, Engstrand & Henrikson, then Ross and his partners founded Pyle, Sims, Duncan & Stevenson in 1993. Ross was an active member of the San Diego legal and civic community, including the Rotary Club
of San Diego (president 1992-1993), Sun Harbor Chorus, and Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church. Ross passed away peacefully and is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Cynthia; his children, Beth Franklin, Christopher Pyle, Linda Lane and David Pyle; and many long-time friends. He was "Granddaddy" to eleven grandchildren, Shaylin, Brendan, Alyssa, Hannah, Ryan, Taylor, Caden, Gavin, Quinn, Drew, and Brady. Ross is also survived by a brother, John Pyle of Sewickley, Pa.; and a sister, Lynn Balabanis of Silver Spring, Md. Memorial service to be held at Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church on Friday, May 3 at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rotary Club of San Diego, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by Alhiser-Comer Mortuary.
