Garner, Vincent Coe 1928 ~ 2013 SAN DIEGO -- Vincent Coe Garner of Rancho Bernardo passed away peacefully on June 30, 2013 after a courageous 5 year battle with Neuropathy. He was born May 16, 1928, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Mary (nee Rolls) and Vincent Coe Garner. After serving in Japan in the Army of Occupation, he returned to attend college, and graduated from Northwestern University
(1952) with a BS in Business Administration and then attended The University of Chicago (1954) where he earned his MBA. Vincent's lifetime and career achievements were accomplished by his dedication, hard work and employees' loyalty. He was the Chief Financial Officer of Pacific Lumber Company in San Francisco until a hostile take-over in 1985, after which he moved to San Diego, where he and colleague, George Martin acquired PALCON Industries, a welding and manufacturing company located in the Miramar area. Upon his retirement in 1994, he continued to be active in the Rancho Bernardo World Affairs Council, and Treasurer and Auditor in other local philanthropic organizations. Vincent is survived by his wife of 54 years, Claire. A Celebration of his Life will be announced at a later date. A highlight of Vincent's life was meeting former President Jimmy Carter in the resort's men's room at Sea Island, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Elizabeth Hospice in Escondido.
