Wallace Fred Naegeli

Naegeli, Wallace Fred SAN DIEGO Wallace Fred Naegeli, age 93, and affectionately known to all as 'Wally,' passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Chula Vista VA Home. He was born in Minnesota on January 10, 1920, to his parents, Frederick and Helen Naegeli. He was the oldest of two children. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Fred Naegeli. He married Patricia Ferreira in San Diego, CA on August 19, 1945. They had two children. He was a resident of San Diego for 73 years. Wally served in the Navy for 30 years and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He earned a Bronze Star for meritorious service in connection with operations against the enemy as a member of the Damage Control Party on board the U.S. Destroyer Boyd on December 8, 1943. Wally had many hobbies but two of his favorites were carpentry and the Boy Scouts. He loved building things, especially the pontoon boat with his son and forts for his children. Wally was a scoutmaster for many years and loved camping with his troop and his family. After retirement, he went on many a backpack adventures with his son. Wally will be fondly remembered by his loving wife; and their children, Roberta Hebert, Jim Naegeli and daughter-in-law, Michele Wegman; grandchildren, Lea Hebert, Wayne Hebert, Ian Naegeli, and Isabella Naegeli; and four great-grandchildren, Emily Hebert, Megan Hebert, Tyler Hebert and Gavin Hebert.
