Palenscar, William Joseph 09/07/1922 ~ 11/03/2013 CARLSBAD -- Son of Hungarian immigrants, brought up in Germantown, Pennsylvania with a sister and two brothers, Bill quickly learned the value of a dollar and resourcefulness which served him well throughout the rest of his life. He married his sweetheart, Eleanor, whom he met at Dennison University while he was in the navy, and soon moved to California working in the fledgling medical radiation industry. Applying his inquisitiveness and tinkering he developed numerous patented products and passed on these traits to his five loving children. A true free spirit dancing to the beat of his own drummer, he led a life that most would aspire to, enabling both Eleanor and Bill to travel throughout the US, Mexico, and Canada treasuring the numerous friendships that they acquired along the way. As a father Bill was loving and accepting of his children, challenging as it sometimes proved to be. That love and faith provided the stability that led them to become strong, independent and successful in their endeavors. Strangers were always welcome - never remaining strangers long, as Bill would literally give them the shirt off his back at the drop of a hat while entertaining all with his endless supply of jokes and limericks. Although he was preceded in death by Eleanor, he continued to share his rare and lovable character with everyone. It has been said that a Dad leaves his mark on the world through the love he gives his children. Bill left a mark few could ever hope to equal.
