Richard Rankin Obituary

Rankin, Richard Wallace 11/25/1946 ~ 05/20/2013 CARLSBAD -- Richard was born in Coronado, Calif., on November 25, 1946 to Marguerite and Frank Rankin. They moved to Imperial Beach near the ocean, where he spent his youth, graduating from Mar Vista High School in 1943. He was popular with everyone as he had a good personality, great sense of humor and a giving heart. He kept in touch with school friends, attending all class reunions. Everyone loved his presence. He was a die-hard fan of the Padres and Chargers. He was a carpenter by trade, then met his soulmate of 27 years, Rita Perfito, obtained his real estate license and moved to Carlsbad. He worked at Tamarack Beach Resort selling vacation ownerships and was quite successful. They traveled to New York City, San Francisco, Portugal and recently, throughout Europe. As well as Rita, Richard leaves behind his sister, Judy, of Imperial Beach, and many sad friends. He will be missed by all. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, at the Fleet Reserve, 659 Silver Strand Blvd., Imperial Beach.
