BARBARA WERLE Obituary

WERLE, BARBARA MAY THERESA Services for dancer and actress, Barbara May Theresa Werle, who appeared on the iconic "Ed Sullivan Show" and starred in such films as "Krakatoa: East of Java" "Battle of the Bulge" and the Elvis Presley film "Charro," will be held Saturday, January 5th, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Carlsbad. Rosary will be said at 10 a.m., with Mass following at 11 a.m. Another service will be held Saturday, January 12, in Beverly Hills. She was born in Mount Vernon, New York on October 6, 1928. After graduating from Catholic high school she went on to become a professional ballroom dancer and won the acclaimed Harvest Moon Ball in the early 1950s. As part of the dance team Barbara and Mansell, she performed in Las Vegas, toured nightclubs throughout the country, and made appearances on Sullivan's show before moving to Hollywood to become a successful actress. She also starred in the television series "San Francisco International Airport" with Lloyd Bridges. She retired to La Costa, where she was soprano for the St. Elizabeth Seton Traditional Choir since 2000. She is survived by her son John Gregory Branca, her brother Donald, her daughter-in-law Linda Branca, her grandchildren Jessica, John Connor and Dylan Branca, and numerous family members including Father Paul Griesgraber and Julie Branca.

I admire Barbara, she is beautiful and sweet. I never met her, but we share the same blood line. My aunt passed in Sept., now Barbara, I am totally sad. The world lost two beautiful women, Heaven gained, and now two angels will look after the lost.
