Byron E. Miller Obituary
Miller, Byron E. 03/16/1934 ~ 03/06/2014 LA JOLLA -- Bryon passed away peacefully at home of heart failure. He was born and raised in San Diego where his father was the ferry boat Captain. At 17, he left to make his fortune. He got as far as Avila Beach, CA, where he ended up joining the commercial fishing fleet. He later worked for Global Marine and Pacific Towboat out of Los Angeles. He returned to San Diego in 1969 and joined the Operating Engineers as a heavy equipment operator and master mechanic. He helped build many of the major highways and bridges. His hobbies included car and flat bottom boat racing. After retiring from boat racing, he became an APBA referee. He served as Commodore of Pacific Power Boat Club and San Diego Mission Bay Boat and Ski Club. He was Port Captain at Mission Bay Yacht Club. He was an avid boater and cruised the Southern California Ocean for many years. He was an Elk and belonged to San Diego Lodge # 168. He leaves behind his wife of 29 years, Sandra, and children Tamera and Byron, and a brother Kenneth.
