Clara Folk Obituary
Folk, Clara Apollonia LEMON GROVE -- Our beloved Mom, Clara Folk, passed away during the night of May 9, 2013. She was born in March of 1922, and lived a full life. She was loved by her three children, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many friends. Jim, her husband of 63 years, died a few years ago; she still missed him. Clara spent most of her life in San Diego after her birth in San Antonio, Texas. She went to Hoover High School and San Diego State College. Clara was among the first woman employed by the U.S. Post Office in 1941. She met her husband Jim while working there and made lifelong friends who called themselves the P.O.G.S. - the Post Office Gals. Clara was a creative, loving, energetic person. She turned her sharp mind to creative endeavors, to word games and to jigsaw puzzles. Clara corresponded online and in written notes with many friends and family up to the last week of her life. She loved the Lemon Grove Historical Society, wrote poems and stories at a creative writing group in Alpine, and was an active member of her church. Clara loved and cared for animals. Her family was supreme; her children were loved and nourished. Beyond that, she was generous to extended family, taking in relatives at times. All care that set a huge example to her children. She and her husband traveled extensively in the United States and abroad; she was grateful to visit her father's family in Austria. Viewing, Friday, May 17, 5 to 9 p.m., at Greenwood Mortuary, 4300 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92113 Services, Saturday, May 18, 10:30 a.m. at Central Congregational Church, 8360 Lemon Ave., La Mesa, CA 91941
