Constance B. Sheehan Obituary
Sheehan, Constance B. 06/28/1936 ~ 05/08/2014 SAN DIEGO -- Constance B. Sheehan, 77, was called home to be with our heavenly Father on May 8, 2014. Connie was born in Flushing, New York on June 28, 1936. She graduated from Trinity College in Washington DC in 1957 with a BA in Economics and a minor in Mathematics and spent the next few years working in New York City until she met Lawrence J. Sheehan. On December 29, 1962, they were married and shortly thereafter moved to San Diego. They soon started a family and she devoted the next chapter of her life to raising two sons, Larry III and Mike, and becoming involved in the Pt. Loma community with volunteering. In the 1970s, Connie became involved in Pt. Loma Assembly and Cabrillo Elementary PTA. The next group to benefit from her service was Pt. Loma Little League where she served as Treasurer, Program Chair, and President of the Women's Auxiliary. She continued to prepare the baseball program when her son Mike was playing Pony League. As her two sons and husband Larry, helped restart Troop 500 at St. Agnes Church, she served as Advancement Chair for several years while her husband was Scoutmaster. Once her sons were in college, Connie joined Assistance League. Connie enjoyed cooking, doing her crossword puzzles and a good game of bridge. For over 40 years, she played bridge once a month with the same group of Pt. Loma women. Then about 10 years ago, she joined a Downtown bridge group that plays once a week. When she became ill a few months ago, it was the bridge game and the people she really missed. Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Larry in 2012. She is survived by her sons, Larry III and Mike; daughter-in-law Jessie; grandchildren Ryan, Keri, Cole, Brooke, and Jami; sister-in-law Alice Whyte; and cousin Gail Rieder. Rosary will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1140 Evergreen St. in Pt. Loma on Saturday, May 17, at 9:30 a.m. with Mass immediately following. Reception to follow at Bali Hai on Shelter Island and final interment at El Camino, Sorrento Valley. A memorial contribution may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Village, www.svdpv.org or to Whispering Winds Catholic Camp, whisperingwinds.org
