David Orestes D'Andrea Obituary
D'Andrea, David Orestes OCEANSIDE -- David D'Andrea, a long-time Oceanside resident, left us on October 31, 2013 to play piano with the angels. He was 84. He was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 28, 1929, son of Palma and Orestes D'Andrea. Professionally, he worked as a mortician in Minnesota and a barber at Camp Pendleton CA, before establishing his own business, North County Wrought Iron, with his compadre, Jose Villamar. David wed Helen Marie Hegberg on December 1, 1956. In 1960, he moved his young family to Oceanside, where he has been a hard-working community supporter for 53 years. David found fulfillment serving others as an active member of more than a dozen volunteer organizations. He devoted boundless energy to charities that assist others in need. David was a lover of life, who found his greatest joy surrounded by family and friends. He was a proud and loving father, a caring and dedicated grandfather, a compassionate and dependable friend. His home was a focal point for countless, festive gatherings. He hardly ever missed an opportunity to celebrate his blessings - his faith in Christ, his united family, his dear friends, and plenty of time to share with them all. A Rosary will be prayed for David at the Oceanside Mortuary on Friday, November 8, at 5 p.m. A Mass in his honor will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Oceanside on Saturday, November 9, at 3 p.m. followed by a reception at the Star of the Sea Center. David was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen, and his parents. He is survived by four children: Daniel D'Andrea (Lisbeth Sivertsen), Diana Brault (Greg), Lisa Russell (Rusty), and John D'Andrea (Terri); eight, wonderful grandchildren; extended family in Minnesota; and a wide circle of friends. He will be fondly remembered!
