Obituary Condolences

AILSHIE, ELWYN E. March 10, 1930 to December 22, 2012 Elwyn was born to Charles and Lois Ailshie March 10, 1930 in Mason City, Nebraska. During the depression the family moved to Sargent, Nebraska. He graduated from Sargent High School and upon graduation he moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he worked for a short time in retail. He started work for United Air Lines, beginning in Omaha and later transferring to San Diego, where he retired with 37 years. In 1949 he married Doris Abrahamson at Trinity Methodist Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa and became father to Larry, Douglas, Connie, Janis, and Linda. He faithfully served in his church as an usher, and later served at the Lemon Grove Skyline Church with the building of the new sanctuary. He was an active Boy Scout leader and Little League coach for several years. Elwyn loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends in the motor home to the desert where he rode the dunes with the dune buggy. He and Doris were also active square dancers for many years. Elwyn enjoyed his gardens and backyard full of fruit trees and he also enjoyed watching and attending sporting events, especially football. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Joan Bojanski, and son Larry. Elwyn is survived by his wife Doris L. Ailshie; son Douglas Ailshie; daughters and sons-in-law Connie Ailshie, Janis C. and Richard Sherar, and Linda and Eric Paulson; sister Anita Hoffman. Elwyn so enjoyed his five grandchildren, Crystal, Brianna, Amanda, Richard, and Sarah, and three great-grandchildren, Charles, Brandy, and Elijah. He went home to rest on December 22, 2012. Memorial Services will be Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary, 7387 Broadway, Lemon Grove, CA, 91945. Reception to follow. His ashes will be scattered in the desert.
