Henry Rittershofer Obituary
Rittershofer, Henry LA MESA -- Henry "Hank" Rittershofer, 74, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Henry Frank Rittershofer, son of Frank and Anna Rittershofer, was born on July 19, 1938, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was raised in Baltimore and graduated from Johns Hopkins as an Electrical Engineer. Hank served in the Navy as an Enlisted man from 1960-1963. He became a Field Engineer working on Navy Ships until he joined Federal Civil Service in 1966 and settled in Long Beach. He was transferred to San Diego in 1969. Hank became a head of Naval Combat System Computer Program Facility in Point Loma until he retired on October 31, 2007. During his employment with the government, he received two Meritorious Civilian Service Awards. Hank enjoyed traveling around the world and was active in a book club, gourmet group and an investment club. He enjoyed fishing and coaching youth soccer as well. Hank is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cynthia Forsythe Rittershofer, his daughter Amy McColl, son Eric Rittershofer, and four grandchildren. He is remembered fondly by many friends, relatives and co-workers. In accordance with his wishes, no memorial service will be held. His ashes will be spread at sea.
