JAMES C. "TOMMY" THOMPSON Obituary
THOMPSON, JAMES C. "TOMMY" June 26, 1922 to October 18, 2012 Born in Osage, OK, Tommy settled in San Diego after discharge as Staff Sergeant from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1945. During World War II, he proudly served in the Regiment Engineers in the Pacific. Tommy married Grace Swanson of Duluth, MN, May 6, 1948, and they settled in La Mesa, CA. Tommy worked for the County of San Diego Road Department/Public Works as an Assistant Civil Engineer, retiring in 1985 after 38 years of public service. Tommy volunteered with the San Diego County Sheriff's Reserve Corps and Rescue Squad from 1957 to 1969. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ruth, and four sisters, Thelma, Elsie, Wilma, and Anna. Tommy is survived by his wife, Grace, of La Mesa, CA, and daughters Carol Thompson of Vista, CA, and Barbara Thompson of Douglas, AK. A memorial service will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on November 19, 2012, 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to .
