JENNIFER SHAWN FAULK Obituary
FAULK, JENNIFER SHAWN Jennifer Shawn Faulk, of Coronado, CA, passed away December 11th, 2012, in the company of her Fiancé Marco, brother Mike, sister Shelley, and lifelong friend Holley at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, CA at the age of 55. It is the solemn end of a life of joy, dedication, and unselfishness that touched and enriched anyone and everyone who knew her. She is survived by a large immediate family and an uncountable extended family of the people who were lucky enough to have known her. Shawn, known as "Peanut" by her Father and as "Cachetini" by her Fiancé, lived a mixed life of pain and joy. Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 12, she battled the disease until her death. Ironically, the illness contributed much to her character and strength, and sculpted her unwavering commitment to others who suffered similarly. She embraced those in her professional and private life with the same generosity and fervour and her passion for life greatly shadowed her struggles. With an MS in Nutrition and the experience of two transplants, Shawn worked tirelessly to support patients of diabetes and transplants, particularly in her capacity at Sharp Memorial Hospital. She was also the founder, with the help of close friend Craig Arnoff, of the San Diego Transplant Organization. She will be remembered not only for her professionalism but perhaps even more so for her emotional availability and caring. The space left by her loss will be filled by wonderful memories. A memorial service will be held at Coronado's Sacred Heart Church, 706 C Ave., at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 2nd, followed immediately by a reception in the rec room of her condo at 333 Orange Avenue, Coronado. Donations in Shawn's memory may be sent to Sharp Healthcare Foundation, 8695 Spectrum Center Blvd., San Diego, CA 92123, c/o Shawn Faulk, or Behavioural Diabetes Institute, Attn: Support BDI, PO Box 501866, San Diego, 92140-1866.
