I first met John in 1957 when I reported to USS Charr as a JG fresh out of submarineschool. John kindly took me in tow and showed me the ropesof conning Charr.

I knew John for 63 years and only heard words of praise for him.He was a good shipmate,fine sailor and friend.My condolences to Nickie.
