JOHNSON, JULIAN "JERRY" Julian "Jerry" Johnson passed away on February 12, 2012. He leaves behind his wife Janet (Kloppenburg), children Jennifer Johnson, Todd Johnson (Vina), grandson Julian III, sister Barbara Bockover (Vernon), stepdaughter Julia Jensen, nieces Pam Bockover and Cheryl Blue of Kansas. Jerry was born on October 18, 1935, in Independence, KS, to Julian "Judy" and Nevada Johnson. He graduated from Independence HS in 1953. Following tours of duty stationed in San Diego with the U.S. Navy, he settled here permanently where his children were born and raised. After completing his degree work at SDSU, Jerry embarked on a career in Insurance/Risk Mgmt. He worked for the City of San Diego as manager of Risk Mgmt from 1971-1997. He proudly served as president of RIMS and PARMA during his career. Known as "JJ" to his friends, Jerry lived life large with an exuberance that brought laughter to all he knew. Always ready to lend a hand and his heart to all he called friend, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at Seaside Center for Spiritual Living at 1613 Lake Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024 on March 9 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to SD Hospice.
