June Poukkula Obituary

POUKKULA, JUNE June Poukkula, 62, was welcomed into Heaven on Monday, April 13, 2009. Her strength was an inspiration to all. June valiantly fought cancer and went on to live life to the fullest, in spite of health issues that would have defeated most. She and her husband Dan travelled extensively through Europe and the United States. They were avid fans of the "Tour de France" watching it both in person and on television in support of fellow cancer survivor, Lance Armstrong. June's favorite travel destination was Hawaii, which is where, along with interment at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, her ashes will be scattered. June grew up in Chula Vista, where she and Dan raised their family. From the banking industry to the Sweetwater Adult School, she was a huge success in all her endeavors. June was a wonderful friend to all with a heart as big as could be and a fabulous sense of humor. The best daughter, wife, mother, sister and grandmother, she is survived by countless friends and family including her loving husband of 43 years, Dan; mother Adalinda Doyle; brother, Pat Doyle; children, Danny (Lori), Barbara (Javier), John (Karla), and grandchildren, Samantha, Julian and baby on the way. She will be missed more than words can say, but her incredibly bright light and shining spirit will live with us forever. Memorial Service on Monday, April 20th, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Chula Vista, 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Lance Armstrong "Livestrong" organization.

Danny, I was very sad to read about your mother's passing in the paper. I know firsthand that grieving the loss of your mother is one of the hardest things you will ever have to go thru in your life. She'll always be with you in your heart & in your memories. My prayers & thoughts will stay with you & your family during this extremely difficult & sad time. Mindy Timer (from Brokersource)
