Karla Maria Joggerst Obituary
Joggerst, Karla Maria ENCINITAS -- Karla Maria Joggerst, 58, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at the Thornton Hospital Oncology Unit after a four year struggle with metastatic breast cancer. Karla was a devoted wife to David Looney for nearly 36 years. Karla had a long history of working with disabled and disturbed young people, including autistic children, behaviorally abnormal children in the San Diego schools, and received her BS from National University in Child and Family Counseling, going into private practice in Carlsbad for a number of years until health problems intervened. Karla was a great lover of the outdoors, particularly the Sierras and the chaparral, hiking widely over Yosemite, Kings Canyon, the Sequoias, and easter sierras. She and husband David also greatly enjoyed trips to the Hawaiian islands, especially Kauai, snorkeling and hiking the trails. Karla also loved dogs, caring for many pets over the years. Karla is survived by her husband David, her aunt Ina Mae Plemon, her nephew Jay, and nieces Christine, Madison, and Morgan, her dog Shy, as well as many friends, including Leslie Packard, Caroline Manning, and Alison Krampetz. She will be greatly missed. Karla desired to be cremated. An informal memorial will be held at a later date.
