LOIS SKILES Obituary
SKILES, LOIS July 1, 1914 to January 11, 2013 Lois Skiles was born in 1914 in Ft. Morgan, CO. She was raised in Snyder, CO, one of five children. She met her husband, Floyd Skiles, in Snyder and they moved to California in 1933. Floyd preceded Lois in death in 1969. Lois lost her youngest son, Tom Skiles, in 1976. Surviving children are: Marilyn Smith of San Diego, Bob Skiles of Huntington Beach, and Kathy Hopper (husband Jim Hopper) of Poway. Lois had 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grand-children. Lois and her husband were active members of Park Blvd. Methodist Church until it closed, and Lois continued her church life at Wesley Methodist Church. Floyd had always talked about traveling after retirement. As it turned out, Lois had to do the travel for both of them after his passing. She visited China, the Holy Land, many European countries, New Zealand and Australia. The biggest part of Lois' life was her family. She was ever an inspiration and teacher of values. She was the silent leader and the matriarch of the family. She was considered the nicest person in the world by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the lives of her loved ones. The sparkle in her eyes and smile will not be forgotten. Family graveside burial service at Greenwood Memorial Park on Friday, January 18th, at 2:00 p.m. A celebration of Lois' life to be held on February 1st at 1:00 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church in San Diego. Donations may be made to San Diego Hospice or Wesley Methodist Church.
