Marion A. Harding Obituary
Harding, Marion A. CARLSBAD -- Marion A. Harding peacefully passed into the Lord's hands at her daughter's home on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the age of 89. Marion was born September 26, 1923 to Augusta (Gallagher) and Daniel Collins in Brooklyn, New York. She was the youngest of 4 children and raised in a close-knit, Irish, Catholic family. She married the love of her life, William E. (Bill) Harding on November 22, 1947, a union that would last 63 years. Marion and Bill moved to Poughkeepsie, NY in 1958 and raised their five children there. Marion was a stay at home mom, devoted to her family. Upon retirement in 1985 they moved to Carlsbad, CA, where they enjoyed many years of travel, tennis, golf, and enriching the lives of their extended family. Together they enjoyed many chats over a Manhattan, a good meal and always a good joke. Marion was predeceased in death by her husband Bill and her daughter Lynn. She is survived by her children Robert R. (Nancy Drews) of Williamsburg, VA., Paul W. (Tamara Leer) of Phoenix, AZ, Clair Wendt (Paul) of Phoenix, AZ, and Rita Burke (Scott) of Carlsbad, CA. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and four great- grandchildren. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to our mother's caregivers Delfina Ramirez, Perla Navar, Mercedes Real, Marina Clover, Thea Hird and Chelo Torres, who with grace, patience and love not only gave her comfort but were a comfort to and supportive of her family as well. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the Helen Woodward Animal Shelter (6461 El Apajo, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92091) or the Wounded Warriors Project (www.woundedwarriors Family will receive visitors at Eternal Hills Mortuary and Memorial Park (1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside CA) on Thursday, September 12th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 6628 Santa Isabel St., Carlsbad, CA at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13th.
