MARTHA PROCTOR MACK Obituary
MACK, MARTHA PROCTOR Martha Proctor Mack was born on July 19, 1921 in Dallas, Texas to W. C. and Cressie Proctor. She passed away with her family by her side on November 9, 2012 in La Jolla and was buried at El Camino Memorial Park on November 20th. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Louis William Mack, Jr., her son, Louis William Mack III, and her grandson, Gregg Gaynor. She attended Southern Methodist University where she received a BA in English at the age of 19. She was the Secretary of the Student Body and a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She was swept off her feet in her senior year by Lou Mack and they were married shortly after graduation. They moved to Denver, Colorado where their three children were born and raised. The family moved to La Jolla in 1967 after vacationing there every year since the 1950s. The family spent time between homes in La Jolla, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Saratoga, Wyoming, and Palm Springs, California. Martha enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and all social endeavors. Everyone remembers her as a genuine and dignified lady who loved people and having fun. She was a member of the La Jolla Country Club, Cherry Hills Country Club, The Junior League of Denver and San Diego, where she co-founded the Fleur de League Garden Club and was a member of the La Jolla Village Garden Club. She was a generous supporter of The McDonald Center, Southern Methodist University, The Burnham Institute, La Jolla High Foundation, The Kidney Foundation, Scripps Hospital and Research, and The Retina Foundation of the Southwest. Martha will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Ann Abbott (Bob)of Laguna Beach, Susan Oliver (Fred) of La Jolla, and her five grandsons, Josh Oliver (Jennie), Hunter Oliver (Katie), Spencer Oliver, Justin Resnik, and Louis Mack IV, her granddaughter Brittany Mack and her great-granddaughter Makenna Gaynor.
