Mary Elizabeth McIlrath Obituary

McIlrath, Mary Elizabeth OCEANSIDE -- Mary Elizabeth McIlrath 84, passed away peacefully at Aaspen Village Care, on December 10, 2012 in Yucca Valley, Calif., where she received the upmost care and the love of all the staff. She was born to Clarence and Emma Cordonnier on April 4, 1928 in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Her husband, James D. McIlrath, who preceded her in death, was waiting with open arms, along with our Lord to welcome her into heaven. Mary and Jim were married for 41 years and were residents of Oceanside for 64 1/2 years before settling in Yucca Valley were they have resided since 2004. When Mary was 14, her family pulled her out of school to work in the cotton fields of Connecticut. She was such a hard worker, that she soon began to work in the tobacco fields where the leaves were bigger than her; all you could see was her feet. After years of hard work, marriage, birth of her lovely daughter, Donna, and the move to Oceanside, she worked in numerous electronic factories throughout San Diego County. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and friends who knew her. Mary was survived by her only child, Donna Mae Wright-Parsons of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; granddaughters, Mary Monique Rizzio of San Bernardino, Edith Nanette Beattie of Venice Beach, and Elizabeth Cherie Lambert of San Clemente; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Wonder Valley Community Church in Twentynine Palms, Calif. In lieu of flowers, please donate money in Mary's name to your local ASPCA or Shelter. Lesneski Mortuary of San Clemente was entrusted with her care. Sign the Guest Book online
