Maynard Wolfe Obituary
Wolfe, Maynard 1930 ~ 2014 SAN DIEGO -- Maynard "Sonny" Wolfe, 83, passed away on Jan. 6, 2014. He was born on a farm near Gillespie, IL. Maynard joined the Marines after high school graduation in 1948. A survivor of the "Battle of Chosin", he ended his service as a Staff Sgt., earning a Korean War Service Medal, in 1952. Maynard married his sweetheart, Donna Dietz, attended SDSU (B.S. degree in Physics with Honors) and worked as a test lab supervisor in the aerospace industry for 38 years. Maynard was a dedicated Christian (deacon, usher, council- man), a family man, and a devoted baseball coach and fan. He coached his children and grand- children and ushered for the Padres. He was most proud of his family's academic and athletic success and his "Chosin Few" association. He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Donna, sister Fern, children Cindy (Bill), Becky (Rich), and Louis, grand- children Greg, Dabney, Jason, Chris, Jenny, Amber, Rachel, Ryon, Mary, Jack and Grace. Services: 10 a.m. on Jan. 27 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4335 Van Dyke Ave., SD. Interment with military honors: 1:30 p.m. at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr., SD.
