Norma Soule' Obituary
Soule', Norma SAN DIEGO -- Norma Soule', 84, passed away on July 9, 2013. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Norma moved to San Diego when she was two years old. She graduated from Hoover High School in the class of 1946. Norma was married to Ward Soule' (Hoover High School class of 1943) for 62 years, until his death in 2010. Norma is survived by her son, Ward D. Soule', daughter, Denise Soule' Adkins and grandsons Tyler and Brandon. Norma and Ward owned La Mesa Food Products for many years. An avid fisherman, Norma could usually be counted on to catch the biggest fish, whether it was marlin off the California coast, or halibut in Alaska. Norma was also an accomplished artist, specializing in water- colors, mixed media and collage. She served on the board of the San Diego Watercolor Society in various capacities for over 20 years. In 2011, the San Diego Watercolor Society honored her with its first Life Member status. Norma was a Signature member of Watercolor West and Western Federation of Watercolor Societies. As a workshop teacher throughout California and as an instructor at The Athenaeum in La Jolla, she was known for her "what if" attitude and she delighted in encouraging art students of all ages. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The San Diego Watercolor Society in memory of Norma Soule' A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, July 16, at 11 a.m. at The San Diego Watercolor Society 2825 Dewey Rd., San Diego, CA 92106.
