Obituary Condolences

O'LEAR, ROBERT May 24, 1931 to February 12, 2013 Robert was born on May 24th 1931 in Yonkers, New York. He attended the Naval Academy (USNA) by congressional appointment and graduated in 1955. After serving as an officer in the Navy he went on to earn a masters degree in civil engineering from Columbia University. Meeting his wife in New York, Robert and Tulia moved to San Diego in 1969 and he worked for Naval Ocean System Center before retiring in 1989. Robert was a member of St. Therese Church since 1970. In his 42 years as a parishioner he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Eucharistic Minister. He had a deep passion for people in crisis and spent thousands of hours volunteering with the Family Crisis hotline, suicide hotline, and also visited prisoners serving life in jail. In his spare time he loved golfing with his wife and traveling. During all the time of his illness, until he took his last breaths, his wife and family were by his side. He is survived by his wife and extended family. Memorial service will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, 6016 Camino Rico San Diego, CA 92120, Monday February 25th, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please give a memorial gift to the American Diabetic Association in his name.
