Robert "Bob" Salmond Obituary
Salmond Robert "Bob" EL CAJON -- Our dearest husband, father, grandfather and friend, Robert "Bob" Salmond of El Cajon, died on February 27, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born on October 29, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas. He was predeceased by his daughter Carolyn Sue Wells. Robert was in the US Navy from 1949-54, where he served proudly in the Korean War on the USS Philippine Sea. In 1954, he went to work for North Island Naval Air Station as an aircraft examiner/supervisor where he retired in 1986. He had a passion for gardening and loved camping in Borrego Springs with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosemary; along with four children; Darlene (Steve) Besst of Danville, CA, Robert (Darla) Salmond of San Diego, James Salmond of El Cajon, and Charles (Monica) Salmond of Alpine; eight grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Services for Robert will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 1:30 p.m., at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
