Obituary Condolences

AGUAIS, ROBERT WILLIAM September 27, 1928 to September 15, 2012 Robert W. Aguais passed away surrounded by family and friends at the age of 83. He was born in New York City in 1928. He attended preparatory school at Kent in Kent CT, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Cornell University. He served in the Army from 1950-1954 and attend Officer's Candidate School. During his military career, he lectured with Wernher von Braun, an American-German rocket scientist, and aerospace engineer. Bob launched missiles while stationed at White Sands Proving Ground. He worked almost his entire career in the aerospace and defense industry. As Vice President at General Dynamics he developed the program to build test equipment for the F16 fighter Jet. He was also a Vice President for United Technologies and Senior Vice President for SAIC. Sixty-one years ago, on September 27, 1950, he married Dorthy Brown, from Troy, PA. In 1970 he moved his family from Rochester, NY to San Diego, CA. His career allowed him to travel the world, but he enjoyed the comfort of home and family. Bob was a brilliant man without conceit. Fox News was his channel. He was very active in the community, serving as President of the Sandy Point Home Owners Association and a Del Mar Rotarian. He is survived by his wife Dorthy, three children, Scott, who lives in London, England, Lynne and Rob, who reside in San Diego, CA, and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012, 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Del Mar, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Scripps Health Foundation, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla Coronary Care Unit or to The Assistance League of Rancho San Diegito.
