Roger Merle Exon Obituary
Exon, Roger Merle SAN DIEGO -- Cdr. Roger M. Exon (Ret.), 89, of San Diego, CA, passed away on September 24, 2013. He was loved and respected by his family and those who knew him. He was born in Maywood, Missouri, on November 17, 1923, to parents James and Alice Exon. Roger enlisted in the US Navy when he was 17 years old, advancing his career from seaman to officer, known as a "Mustang." He served during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, retiring in 1971. After 30 years in the US Navy, he worked as a program analyst at SEI, in San Diego, for 20 years. He was a devoted and active member of Faith Lutheran Church in San Diego since 1967. After a loving marriage of 68 years, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helene. He is survived by his sister, Doris Utter; his daughter, Sandra; his son, Guy, his wife, Kristen, and their son, Loren. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 5, at 9:30 a.m., Faith Lutheran Church, San Diego. Military Honors will follow on Tuesday, November 5, at 1 p.m., Committal Shelter, Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma.
