Sarah E. "Sally" McNutt Obituary
McNutt, Sarah E. "Sally" SAN DIEGO -- Sally passed away peacefully on August 11 at Sharp HospiceCare. She was predeceased 23 years earlier by her beloved husband and "best buddy" of 52 years, Charles W. McNutt. Born November 4, 1916 in Franklin PA to Edgar L. Ely and Vera (Porter) Ely, Sally is survived by sisters-in-law Helen Ely (Norman) of Erie, PA, and Ora Mae Ely (Ralph) of Topton, PA and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by all of her siblings: brothers Paul, Norman, Ebin and Ralph Ely, and sister Marion Goetz. Sally graduated from Meadville, PA Commercial College in 1935, and married Chuck on June 17, 1939 in Sugar Grove PA. The couple moved first to the San Francisco Bay area in 1948, then to San Diego where Sally worked in businesses which were instrumental in developing the La Mesa, CA area. Sally has entertained many with tales of events and times gone by; her humorous story-telling will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Wendy Frampton for the loving care and support given to Sally during her declining health. An active advocate and contributor to Sharp HealthCare's "Homes for Hospice" and YMCA Golden Circle; it was Sally's wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: Grossmont Hospital Foundation "For benefit of Sharp HospiceCare Fund," 5555 Grossmont Center Drive, La Mesa, CA 91942, or YMCA of San Diego County "For benefit of Camp Marston," PO Box 2440 Julian, CA 92036. Private Interment, Glen Abbey Memorial Park. Celebration of Life November 3, 1 p.m. at La Mesa Community Center.
