THOMAS H. ASHER Obituary
ASHER, THOMAS H. Oct. 18, 1946 to August 13, 2011 Tom Asher was born in Riverside, CA and raised in San Diego. He died suddenly the evening of August 13, 2011, at his group home in El Cajon. He is pre-deceased by his father, J. Curtis Asher, MD., and mother, Doris L. Asher. He is survived by his five brothers and one sister.Growing up,Tom loved riding his bicycle throughout his North Park neighborhood and took time to talk and laugh with all the neighbors. Everyone knew and liked Tom.He loved cars and could name all the greats, oldies, and hotrods. He delighted in a family member's mustang and was always asking about it. He loved to go for a ride in different kinds of cars and trucks and listen to rock 'n roll on the radio.Tom worked as a volunteer providing service at the ADC Program in El Cajon. He had some great times camping, BBQing, and excursion trips to fun places with his friends. He enjoyed holidays and spending time with his family.Tom was simply, a very special person to everyone who knew him. He will always be remembered and loved by his family, friends, and caregiver parents. He will be greatly missed. Viewing and rosary service will be held Monday, August 22, 2011, 6:00-8:00 p.m.; Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m., Goodbody Mortuary, 5027 El Cajon Blvd. San Diego, CA 92115. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 11:00 a.m., Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 2766 Navajo Rd., El Cajon, CA 92020. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery and reception at Admiral Baker Field. Family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Foundation for Developmental Disabilities, (FDD), 4355 Ruffin Road, San Diego, CA 92123, (858) 576-2933.
