Thomas Joseph Holman Sr. Obituary
Holman Sr., Thomas Joseph SAN DIEGO -- On January 17, 2014, Thomas Joseph Holman, Sr. passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Tom lived 83 wonderful years and influenced the lives of too many to count. He was born May 30, 1930 in Manhattan, New York and spent the first 34 years of his life in New York-New Jersey and moved west to California in 1964. Tom is a legend in his industry, having devoted over thirty years guiding families in prearranged services for their loved ones. He was the first ever inducted into The Loewen Group Pre-Need Hall of Fame in 1998. Tom was a lifetime Yankees fan and loved to regale anyone who'd listen with stories and updates about the team. When asked to list his top ten Yankees of all time he simply couldn't. He insisted on setting guidelines for different eras. He saw Lou Gehrig play live and was also at Yankee Stadium when Don Larson pitched his perfect game in game five of the 1956 World Series. However, his greatest passion of all was his family, especially his devoted wife, Elizabeth "Betty" who he met at the Jersey Shore at the ripe old age of thirteen. Tom and Betty were married for 56 years and shared every holiday and special memory together. Tom is survived by wife Betty, his eight children, Kathy Idomoto, Thomas J. Holman Jr., William Holman, Elizabeth Hill, Douglas Holman, Robert Holman, Christopher Holman and Michael Holman as well as twelve grandchildren, Collin Gioia, Zachary Holman, Joshua Hill, Kellsie Holman, Amanda Idomoto, Thomas Idomoto, Andrew Hill, Emily Holman, Grant Holman, Matthew Holman, Joshua Holman and Molly Holman. Services for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 25, at 2:00 p.m. in the Salli Lynn Chapel at Greenwood Memorial Park, followed immediately by crypt-side ceremony.
