Obituary Condolences

BUNNETT, THOMAS TAFT The Rev. Thomas Taft Bunnett Born in Long Beach, CA, on June 18, 1936, to parents Leona and Robert William Bunnett. Tom died on Sunday, January 1, 2012 in San Diego. His life work, after graduating from Concordia Seminary St. Louis included his first parish in Juneau, Alaska and 30 years of service to his country as a military Chaplain. He retired as a Colonel and subsequently served Grace Lutheran Church, San Diego as their pastor from 1997 to 2002. After his second retirement, he worked for six years in Juneau, Alaska, serving his original parish as their pastor during the summer months. His parishioners, while in the Army and in his civilian churches, loved Tom. He was the consummate pastor, dedicated to his Lord and the people of God that make up the church. He is survived by his wife Thekla, daughter Mischa and son Marcus (wife Kristin) and three grandchildren, Dylan, Bailey and Nicolas. Also surviving him is his older brother, the Rev. Robert Bunnett and his family. Chaplain Bunnett died of a very rare form of cancer, Carcinoid Syndrome. A memorial service is Thursday, January 5, 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 3967 Park Boulevard, San Diego. Please no flowers.
