Potts, Willard "Gene" 02/05/1923 ~ 06/19/2013 CORONADO -- "Gene" Potts passed away peacefully in his home on June 19, 2013. He was born in Lyndon, Kansas and raised in Topeka, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant during WWII. In 1947, Gene moved to San Diego with his wife Mary and began a family. He owned and operated "Willard Stationary & Office Supply" for 15 years. He and Mary then moved to Pasadena, where he owned and operated the restaurant at "Brookside Golf Course" for 20 years, retiring in 1991. Upon retiring, Gene and Mary moved to the Coronado Cays where they spent the remainder of his days enjoying the company of good friends, golfing, and living the retired life. Gene was the hardest worker and brains of the family. He will be deeply missed in countless ways. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary; his son, David; and his grandson, Brian. Services will be at 10 a.m., on Friday, August 2nd, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to "Hospice of San Diego" or "St. Judes Hospital" in his name.
