Louis Driver Hill Obituary
Hill, Louis Driver Colonel, USAF, Retired SAN DIEGO -- Colonel Louis Driver Hill remained active in service to his country, community, and family for 98 years. He was born July 12, 1916 in Centerville, Alabama and lived a full, productive life until his passing in San Diego, CA, on July 23, 2014. Colonel Hill earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Science from Alabama State University in 1938. Shortly after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. His military career spanned three wars, three decades, and three continents. As a Permanent Regular Full Colonel, Hill retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1971. After military retirement, he worked as an Executive for Northrop Corporation for another ten years. For over 39 years, Colonel Hill served Tuskegee Airmen, Incorporated and the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation with fervor. He was a guest of President Clinton at the 50th anniversary celebration of VJ day in Honolulu, Hawaii. On April 11, 2006, Hill was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor by President George W. Bush. He is a true American Hero. Services will be held July 30, 2014 at March Air Force Base, Riverside, CA, at 12:00 p.m. Interment immediately following at the National Cemetery, Riverside, CA. An open visitation will be held at the Glen Abbey Mortuary, Bonita, CA July 29, 2014, 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Donations to the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation are appreciated. http://www.taisf.org
