Lurry Houston Obituary
Houston, Lurry 05/07/1925 ~ 08/02/2014 SAN DIEGO -- Lurry passed away peacefully August 2 surrounded by family; after cheerfully battling health issues for 4 years. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, of Japanese parents; third child of four. She spent her adolescence in Japan from 1939; after the war worked as the Banquet Manager at Tokyo's Imperial Hotel; married John Houston, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant in 1951; they raised three children in the USA. She is survived by her elder sister, three children and their spouses, and two granddaughters. Apart from her devotion to family, she had a great love of flowers and was active with Ohara School of Ikebana; was a great cook and famous for her iced tea; loved to dance and travel; and delighted in her granddaughters, the "joys" of her life. Rosary and viewing August 15, 7:00 p.m. Our Mother of Confidence Church, 3131 Governor Dr., corner of Regents Rd. Funeral Mass will be held at the same Church August 16, 10:30 a.m., followed immediately by burial services at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd. "Mamma-chan, your love and life is a glorious miracle that truly blesses our family and many others."
