Obituary Condolences

GIESSER, THELMA On September 1, 2010, we lost a great matriarch Thelma Giesser at the age of 92. She passed away due to acute respiratory failure. Thelma was born in Pensacola, Florida, to Josephine and Julian Joseph Quina, the seventh of eight children. TT, as she was affectionately called, was the most wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by five children Arlene Inch of San Francisco, Linda Silver (Bob), Carl Giesser, Judy Kruidenier, all of San Diego, and Debbie Giesser of Oakland. Eight grandchildren Bert Inch (Jane) Piedmont, Ca., Eddie Inch San Francisco, Shelley Inch Kuhle (Rick) Paradise Valley, AZ., Kimberly Giesser McGaha of San Diego, Robin Silver Rasmussen (Darin) Laguna Beach, Kelly Silver Mancini (Frank) Newport Beach, Ryan Silver, San Diego, Jared Kruidenier San Francisco, eleven great-grand-children, her wonderful sister Bert Garrett and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Arlo Giesser and her three sons Art Jr., Stanley, and Chris. TT moved many times during her husband's military career. Her husband graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1935, and they met in her hometown of Pensacola, Florida, while he was attending flight school. During that time, she was Miss Pensacola. They lived on and off in Coronado where her children attended school for many years. In 1964, she moved to San Diego where she lived most of her life. She loved to sing and took center stage as often as she could. Six of her children started a Family Band called "The Giesser Gang" and were very popular during the 70's. Her love and dedication to her family has always been an inspiration to us all. She was one of a kind, will be loved forever and never be forgotten. The Visitation will be on Saturday, September 11th, from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 12th, at Merkley-Mitchell Mortuary, 3655 5th Avenue, San Diego, CA 92103, (619) 295-2177.
