HOLLENBECK, MARGARET "PEG" RUSSELL December 16, 1921 to February 6, 2013 Margaret "Peg" Russell Hollenbeck passed away peacefully under Hospice care in her Pacific Beach home with family members at her side. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, graduated from Niagara Falls HS and Buffalo State Teachers' College, began teaching in Westchester County, NY, and in 1946 married Gordon Hollenbeck of Akron, NY, a Navy pilot. In 1958, the family moved to San Diego and settled perma-nently. Margaret resumed full-time teaching in Consumer Science and Family Studies, teaching from 1967-1982, first at Memorial Junior HS, then at Mira Mesa HS. After retirement, she served 18 years as a Volunteer in Mission for the Presbyterian Church, stationed in eight different states. Throughout these travels, Margaret made and maintained hundreds of friendships as she helped to influence people and spread the Gospel of the Lord. She was active in many local and state-level organizations and an active member of Pacific Beach Presbyterian Church since 1959. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by her sons Dennis (Sharon), Russell, Geoffrey (Andrea), and Roger (Cathy), daughter Sandra (Christian), 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Pacific Beach Presbyterian Church, 1675 Garnet Avenue, on Saturday, March 2nd, at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow. Her remains will be interred in Northville, NY.
