Mary Ann Beverly Obituary
Beverly, Mary Ann 1924 ~ 2013 SAN DIEGO -- Mary Ann was born in Santa Monica and called San Diego her home for the last 68 years. The greatest tribute to Mary Ann is summed up by her personalized license plate, "I LOVE LIFE." She was always the life of the party and raised her beautiful voice to all to enjoy. Mary Ann was multi- talented from the beginning. In her early years, she sang with the Star Light Opera, sang the National Anthem for the San Diego Gulls for many years, and made the circuit of numerous Jazz Clubs in San Diego. Life was not all a cabaret; she taught the Dental Assistant Program at Grossmont College for 19 years and returned to UCLA at 54 years young to earn her Master's degree in Special Education, thus proving one of her favorite quotes "You are never too old." And if all of this was not enough, Mary Ann wrote and published her book of "home-spun" philosophy, "Getting 'It' On...A Little Book With Great Reminders on How to Grow With the Flow." She simply stated: "Love Life and Trust Yourself." Mary Ann will be missed by her daughter, Ann Howe of Pine Valley; her son, Stephen Escamilla of Oceanside; grandson, Darrin Teisher of Alpine, and by all who knew her. Mary Ann was busy planning her 90th Birthday party and in that honor, her Birthday Party and Celebration of Life will be held from 1pm to 4 pm on Sunday, January 19th, 2014, at the Sheraton La Jolla on Holiday Court.
