WILLIAMSBURG - Richard A. New, 84, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014. He graduated from Matthew Whaley High School in 1950 and Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Illinois; He was a member of Smith Memorial Baptist Church and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Preceding him in death are his parents, William A. and Virginia A. New. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean New; son, Steve A..New, his wife, Miriam, and their children, Tyler and Zachary; daughter, Trudy N. Waters, her husband, Michael, and their children, Andy and David; his sisters, Eunice McMillian of Pampa, Texas, Bernice Dutton and Lois Meadows, both of Norge; and numerous other relatives. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Bucktrout Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 am Monday at Smith Memorial Baptist Church followed by burial in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the ALS Society, 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855 or Smith Memorial Baptist Church Homeless Ministry.
