Charles "Chuck" Chudek, age 82, of Williamsburg, and formerly of Chicago, passed away Nov. 7. He was a Navy veteran, a graduate of the University of Illinois
with a BA in Journalism, and during his later years, an avid stockbroker.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Walter Chudek; dear late brothers, William, Joseph, and Alexander "Al"; sisters, Olga Kunstadt and Irene Vash; and loving late aunt, Irma. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Catherine Chudek, and their children: Cynthia, Chris and Carrie Jean.
Chuck was an avid golfer and enjoyed touring golf courses throughout the U.S. and Europe. He started his career as sole owner, publisher and editor of Chicago's first golf newspaper, The Chicagoland Golfer. He received several awards for the newspaper's editorial achievements in promoting Chicago golf. He spent 20 years with Gralla Publications, which included publications such as Contract Magazine and Kitchen & Bath Business. Also during his career, he was a trade show manager for the Kitchen and Bath industry.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to his doctors and nurses at WindsorMeade of Williamsburg, as well as with his many friends and neighbors for their love and concern.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. this Sunday, Nov. 11 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12 at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg. Burial will be held in Wheaton, IL at a later date.
