Cynthia (Cindy) Coleman Schuler, 69, of Williamsburg passed away at her home Aug. 30. She was retired from her work as an aesthetician.
Cindy was born on August 7, 1943. She spent much of her childhood in Charleston, SC and received her BA from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, GA.
She is survived by her children: Frank A. Schuler, IV; Mary Beth Baber and Michael P. Schuler and siblings: Mary Hohmann , Daniel Coleman, and Thomas Coleman with whom she maintained a close relationship. Cindy is also survived by two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her community of friends in Williamsburg and beyond will greatly miss her passion for living and her dedication to clarity, peace and open heartedness.
Despite health challenges, Cindy worked tirelessly for social justice and racial equality with many organizations including All Together, NAACP and, most recently, Literacy for Life. She was committed to recovery work and spiritual exploration.
A Celebration of Life and Remembrance Service will be held on Saturday, September 15th at 3:30 pm at the Williamsburg Unitarian Universalists (WUU), 3051 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA.
