Doris Marie Edwards of Williamsburg, VA, died peacefully at home on Thursday, October 4, 2012.
The second of three children born to Sarah Wilkinson Frank and Alfred Frank in Freeland, PA, Doris was raised in Weatherly and Kingston, PA. It was there that she met her husband, Bill. Doris and Bill left the Wyoming Valley when he began his career with the Kerite Cable Company in New York City. Over the years, they made homes in Florham Park, Chatham and Basking Ridge, NJ, in Chicago, IL, and Towson, MD. Throughout her husband's working life, Doris traveled extensively with him and helped entertain clients.
They retired to Williamsburg in 1985. There she enjoyed a slower paced life and the time to make new friends, to golf and pursue new interests. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006.
Doris was member of the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church and for years was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Edwards DeWitt of Williamsburg, her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Arthur Edwards and Catherine Anne Haun of Albuquerque, NM, as well as her two beloved grandsons, Henry Edwards and Jay Edwards and three cherished grand-dogs, Roxanne, Pal and Willie.
