WILLIAMSBURG - Edward Ross Vogel, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Spring Arbor of Williamsburg. He was 87. He was born on February 26, 1926 in New York City, New York. He attended Brooks School in Massachusetts and graduated in 1947 from Princeton University
. Ross served honorably in the Army Air Force during World War II
. In 1951, he married Joy Grosset, and together they had two daughters, Katharine and Torrey. He is also survived by his son-in-law Leon; three grandchildren, Adam, Branan, and Sarah, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ross worked at Allied Chemical and then Mobil Oil, where he became a marketing executive. Ross finished his career in New Zealand and retired from Exxon/ Mobil in 1990. Ross was a devoted husband and father to his family. He was an avid tennis player and played daily at the Kingsmill Tennis Club until the untimely death of his wife in 2008. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service organized by his daughters will be held in Chester, Virginia at a date to be set in December. We would like to give special thanks to the staff at Spring Arbor and Heartland Hospice who worked tirelessly to make Ross comfortable during his later years.
