George J. Marrash

George J. Marrash, 86, of Williamsburg, passed away on December 2, 2012. He was born April 19, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He attended Franklin & Marshall and graduated from Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre. He served in the Army during WWII as an infantryman in Europe. He was assigned to the 76th Infantry Division in mid-December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge and remained in Europe through July 1946. He received an honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant and was decorated with the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. In his career, he worked as a personnel manager at Picatinny Arsenal for over 20 years. He moved to Williamsburg in 1993 and enjoyed his passions of golf and music. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the late Ann Marie Marrash. George was a loving husband and father, and will be missed greatly by his wife, Joyce T. Marrash; children, Robert Marrash, David (Cathy) Marrash, Catherine (Rick) Weber, Deborah Maffie and Christopher (Gina) Maffie; his nine grandchildren; and his siblings, John Marrash, Lois Misken and Ruth Gabriel. A memorial service will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg on Friday, Dec. 7 at 1:00 PM. Private interment will be held at the St. Bede Columbarium at a later date.
