Inez Atkinson Saunders

Danville – Inez Atkinson Saunders went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, September 28, 2012, at Riverside Health and Rehab Center in Danville, VA.

She lived in Williamsburg for over 40 years and was an employee of Eastern State Hospital for 39 years. She attended Williamsburg Christian Church until her move to Danville.

Inez was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, on November 9, 1923, and was the daughter of Mabel Barksdale Atkinson and Howard Clay Atkinson. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church where she served faithfully until her health failed.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, a brother, Ralph B. Atkinson, and a sister, Othelia A. Davis and is survived by two sisters, Clara A. Clark of Chatham and Bertha A. Watkins of Danville. She was a special aunt to many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Inez will be remembered for her care and interest in the lives of her family members.

Interment was held at Williamsburg Memorial Park on Monday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m.
