John E. Roberts, Sr., 65, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 in Williamsburg. He was a native of Glenview, Ill. and a Williamsburg resident for seven years.
John worked as a safety engineer for AON Corporation for more than 25 years. John was a Master Model Railroader and past President of the National Model Railroad Association. He also authored many articles for national model railroad publications.
John had various other hobbies including golf and photography. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. John also served on the Board of Governors for Phi Kappa Tau at the College of William and Mary here in Williamsburg. John was a member of Walnut Hills Baptist Church of Williamsburg.
John was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Suzie Wilkins Roberts of Williamsburg; daughter, Whitney Lynn Roberts of Scottsdale, Az.; son, John E. Roberts, Jr. and wife Colletta of King of Prussia, Pa.; granddaughters, Avalon and Aislinn; sisters, Mary Pezeshki of Scottsdale, Az., Kathy Richardson of Paradise Valley Az., Karen Wilkens and husband Carl of Phoenix, Az.; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. on Friday, March 8 at Peninsula Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Tony Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
