On Friday, December 14, 2012, Lilian Glaser, 89, with family at her side quietly passed away at Sentara Hospital in Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Anne and Robert Bailey; her sisters, Doris Arnold and Emily Lagdon.
Lilian was born in Edmonton, England in 1923. She has been a lifelong resident of Williamsburg since arriving in 1945. During World War II Lilian was a WAF in the Royal Air Force. In 1942, she met the love of her life, John Glaser and they were married on January 10, 1943 in Enfield, England.
Lilian worked as a supervisor in the Williamsburg Inn Kitchen for several years before becoming a longtime employee at Binns Fashion Shop. She finished her working career managing the Williamsburg Needlecraft Shop.
Lilian is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 70 years, John Glaser. Other loving family members include her son, Robert and wife, Tamara of Williamsburg; daughter, Ann and husband, Dr. Lanny Rosenwasser of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Britton Glaser, Alison Barrick, Mark Rosenwasser, Emily Rosenwasser, Hope Smith and Amy Crowell; great-grandchildren include Samuel and Benjamin Barrick, Jacob, Layla and Lily Crowell. Surviving relatives in England include nephew, Kenneth Lagdon and wife, Linda, cousin, Elsie Sharp.
A celebration of Lilian's life will take place at Bucktrout Funeral Home on Thursday, December 20 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Online condolences may be offered at www.bucktroutfuneralhome.net.
