Lillian P. Douglas

Lillian P. Douglas, of Richmond Va., wife of George T. Douglas, passed away quietly in her sleep, November 14, 2013. She was born May 25, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York to Charles and Florence Plant, the fourth of five children. She is survived by their three children, Sharon D. Grossman of Williamsburg, VA., Charles G. Douglas of Seattle, WA and Steve Douglas of Midlothian, VA. Also surviving are two sisters, Beatrice Wright of Massapequa, New York and Jean Douglas of Bohemia, New York. In addition, there four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two great grandchildren and extended family members.
Throughout her life, Lillian was a devout Christian and active in the Presbyterian and later the Episcopalian Church. She had volunteered in a variety of hospitals, and in her earlier years with physically handicapped children in a home setting. Lillian believed in the healing power of prayer and prayed for the sick and needy consistently.
Lillian was a homemaker most of her life, but also worked in retail and later owned a gift shop, "The Lilly Pad". She always enjoyed her arts and crafts projects, painting and jewelry making. Most of all, she enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren in later years. She will be dearly missed by her family, although she will never be far in spirit.
