WILLIAMSBURG - Lois Maxine Hill, 96, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on March 3, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Lee Hill; grandson, Jeffrey Stanton; and son-in-law, Philip Stanton. She is survived by her son, John Charles Hill and his wife, Suzanne; daughter, Julianne Hill Stanton; grandchildren, Douglas Stanton, Brenda Hill, Holly Hill, Cynthia Hill Vasquez, Katrina Hill Chojnicki, John Andrew Hill; and four great-grandchildren. Lois was born in Joplin, MO and grew up in Pitcher, OK. Following her marriage, she and her family lived in Ft. Worth, TX, Chicago, IL, Jackson, MS and Dover, DE. Lois was always busy with many jobs and volunteer activities. She worked in Chicago as a fashion coordinator and model for Marshall Fields and Saks Fifth Avenue. She also worked for several market research firms. She was active in Federated Women's Club everywhere she lived, serving as State President in Delaware. Her volunteer activities included working for the American Red Cross and Dover Air Force Base, Kent General and Sentara Hospitals. When she moved to Chambrel in 2001, she quickly joined the many activities there, such as working in the library and leading Sunday night hymn sings, serving on the residents' council and her favorite, announcing information on Chambrel's local TV station. She laughed that she was surprised to be doing so many new things so late in her life. She will be missed by many. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at Chambrel of Williamsburg at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.nelsencares.com
