Margaret E. Fisher

Margaret E. Fisher, 85, died peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, March 22, 2013. She was born in Middletown, N.Y. to the late Joseph F. and Marion C. Coughlin, and grew up in Nyack, N.Y.
She married Robert J. Fisher in 1949, and during his long career with Texaco, Inc., raised three children and lived in several states. They retired together to Williamsburg in 1986, where they were active in the Kingsmill community and as members of Bruton Parish Church. Her last years were spent at Patriot's Colony.
As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was active, out-going, loved sports, travel and time with family, whose accomplishments and lives she encouraged and followed with great joy. Her family is proud of how she overcame great obstacles in her later years with courage and spirit.
She is predeceased by her parents; a brother, John F. Coughlin; husband of 54 years; and a son, James R. Fisher. She is survived by her sister, Jane Frye (Charles); sisters-in-law, Janet Fisher Anderson and Elizabeth Monsees (Ralph); daughters, Jane F. Hanson (Ray) of Williamsburg and Amy B. Smith (Dave) of Warwick, N.Y.; daughter-in-law Dee Fisher of La Canada, Ca.; grandchildren Amy Hanson Glover (Andy), Lara Hanson Jones (Greg), Matthew Smith (Breige) and Meghan Smith; and great-grandchildren, Lara Jane, Benjamin and James Glover, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
A reception to celebrate her life will be held at the Assisted Living Community Room at Patriot's Colony, 6200 Patriot's Colony Dr., Williamsburg at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27. A private family service will be held at a later date.
